GrandMaster Mitchell Barron is a 7th Degree Black Belt internationally certified with Kukkiwon and Jidokwan in the Korean Martial Art of Tae Kwon Do under the World Tae Kwon Do Federation and the Jidokwan Federation. The World Tae Kwon Do Federation is the largest Tae Kwon Do governing organization in the world and is based at the Kukkiwon in Seoul, Korea.
He began his Martial Arts training at the age of 12 in Judo and later went on to train in Tae Kwon Do under the instruction of GrandMaster Byung Min Kim. For the past 17 years Mitchell Barron has been under the instruction of GrandMaster Sung Soo Lee. For the past 28 years he has co-owned and operated NorthEastern Martial Arts Academy in Florida, New York with his wife Suzyn. For six years he studied Northern and Southern Shaolin Kung Fu, a Chinese Martial Art, under World Champion Sifu Karl Romain.
In February of 1997 Mitchell Barron was Certified as an International Self-Defense Rape Awareness and Prevention Instructor in California under the direction of Mr. Robert Ferguson, Founder of the RAP program. Mitchell is also a National Advisor for The Rape Awareness and Prevention Organization.
In 1999 Master Barron was named in Action Martial Arts Magazine for who’s who in the Martial Arts. In 2004 & 2005 he was inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame.
Suzyn Barron is a Second Degree Black Belt in the Korean Martial Art of Tae Kwon Do and was trained under the instruction of GrandMaster Byung Min Kim.
In 1986, Suzyn and her husband, Mitchell, established NorthEastern Martial Arts Academy in Florida, New York as co-owners and together operate this successful traditional martial arts school.
Suzyn Barron was certified in February, 1997 as an International Self-Defense Rape Awareness and Prevention Instructor in California with the Rape Awareness and Prevention Organization International under the direction of its founder, Robert Ferguson. Recently, Suzyn is also a National Advisor for The RAP Organization.
Instructors
Francesca is a graduate of SUNY New Paltz and from the University of Pheonix, majoring in Secondary Mathematics Education. She works for SUNY Orange teaching math on the college level. She has been training for over 18 years in Tae Kwon Do and currently is a 2nd dan black belt.
Barbara has been training for 14 years at NEMAA. She is an amazing role model for not only the students but for the Instructors as well. She is currently a 2nd Dan Black Belt. She is well liked and admired for her teaching skills and knowledge of our curriculum.
Paul is a 1st Dan Black Belt who has been training at NEMAA since the middle of 2003. Since starting at NEMAA, Paul has advanced to the rank of 1st Degree Black Belt. He is an alumnus of Alfred State College where he also earned a 1st Degree Black Belt in Eclectic Martial Arts, karate. Paul assists teaching curriculum on the Friday night junior class, and despite his serious demeanor, he enjoys every minute of it. Paul currently works as an IT technician in New Jersey. The 1993 show, mighty Morphin Power Rangers inspired Paul into the martial arts at an early age. And even now Paul remains a fan of the show and is also an avid student of the ancient art of Tae Kwon Do.
Matthew has been training in Tae Kwon Do since he was seven years old. He is now a 1st Dan Black Belt and on his way to becoming a second Dan. Currently, Matthew has been teaching the Tuesday night class. He enjoys going to class and meeting new people, as well as playing the viola and playing golf.
I am a 2nd Degree Black Belt and have been training at NEMAA with Grandmaster Barron for 15 years. I have been a part of the leadership team for 13 years helping teach junior classes during the week. I am currently employed as a TA at New Beginnings Montessori School working with children ages 3-10.
I am a 3rd Degree Black Belt and started training at NEMAA in 2006 when I was 13. I am also a 1st Degree Black Belt in Haedong Kumdo (sword), and hall to Sullivan earn my 1st Degree Black Belt in Hapkido. Martial arts has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. It has been a constant and positive influence. In addition, I played trumpet and drums. I am a starter of the varsity soccer team at Chester academy, and im working towards earning the rank of eagle scout in boy scouts. Although I am very busy with numerous activities and school, I always make time for Tae Kwon Do. I have been teaching the Saturday in junior class for close to four years now. I enjoy instructing and passing on knowledge to my students. I hope to test for 4th Degree Black Belt before I graduate from high school.
Olivia has been doing Tae Kwon Do know since she was 9. She is currently a Black Belt and became a member of the leadership team at 13 years old. In high school, Olivia is an honor roll student, who tutors younger students. Olivia loves art and participating in the Olympics of the visual arts. A Levee ats takes great pride in her Tae Knon do students successes.
Tanya teaches white belts all the way up to advanced orange belts. She has been teaching for 2 years and has been on the leadership team for about six months. She loves teaching the new generation of black belts from the very start and watching her students grow. Currently, Tanya is a Bo-Dan (One belt away from a black belt). Tanya is more than excited to continue her way to black belt and see her students do so as well.
Chris has been training for over 11 years and is currently a 3rd Poom Black Belt. He has been teaching for 3 years now and teaches the junior class is on Tuesday. He has competed in many tournaments throughout his training. Outside of Tae Kwon Do, Chris plays baseball for his high school.
Lisa is a 3rd Dan Black Belt. She started training at 9 years old but how to stop for a few years because of high school sports. She has been teaching for over 10 years now. Currently, Lisa teaches the Saturday morning adult class.
